How to make the most of the Atkins diet – Part 1

Atkins diet completely resembles the all-popular low-carb diets. In fact, Atkins diet is a low-carb diet. As you can see, low-carb diets come in different patterns, with different diet formula, plan or routine. We also have the South Beach diet as a type of low-carb diet.

You will not jump into the Atkins diet except you have been advised by your dietician or doctor to do so. These diet plans are specifically designed for different purposes and situations and not actually for everybody and every situation.

The Atkins diet has its unique start up pattern, as directed and stated by many dieticians all over the world. Since it is a low-carb diet, it’s main goal is to eliminate excess carbohydrate fat in the body to help reduce overweight or obesity, as the case maybe. Some are advised to start up with a good amount of keep-fit walks and exercises, etc.

Now, even if the Aktins diet has its own style and pattern, a dietician normally advises differently for different people, due to their different reasons for demanding the diet routine. In the light of this, one is advised to seek the counsel of his dietician or best still a doctor before starting up the Atkins diet.

Atkins diet has been around for quite sometime now, and many people have attributed to its positivity in what it does to man.

Lose Belly Fat Now – Information

weightloss
James Redder asked:

I don’t know a thing about you, but I’ll bet that you didn’t think it would be that difficult to lose belly fat with all of the fitness technologies that currently exist. Learning how to lose belly fat and/or weightloss is still a pretty popular subject in the workout world. If you have a little to lose or a lot (i.e. pregnancy) it doesn’t matter. The three basic elements of the fat-loss solution are: Lower daily calorie intake, Increase daily calorie burn rate and use resistance training to build and firm muscle mass. These actions will lead to consistent fat-loss and should assist in losing weight. Before we get started I think you should know that fat-loss is not selective. Despite the newest exercise or fitness device claims. However, the first place you tend to lose it is often the stomach area. This is also the area for significant weightloss as well.

Minimize Calories

For our purposes here we want you to start to become aware of what you eat and drink throughout a day. The main point here is to create the habit of not drinking calories and gaining weight. A great way to start this is to get into the habit of drinking water instead of other drinks which supply calories. By the end of the week consuming one soft drink adds up to almost 1,000 calories. If you drank water instead then that would be you losing about 1,000 calories by the end of the week. The change loses you a pound in under a month from just switching to water.

Maximize Daily Calorie Output

You can almost double your efforts by taking in less calories and burning more calories at the same time. This synergistic effect may sound sound too simple to be true but it is very effective. To get started you need to burn more then 140 calories or so above what you would normally consume in a day. This can be done by increasing your walking, climbing stairs, jogging, running or exercising with kettle bells. Basically just find a way to move around more than you normally do. Those who follow these actions will cause one who loses weight to do so consistently.

Utilize Resistance Training

By not incorporating this essential action into your daily program you will end up losing both muscle and fat. No big deal you may wonder but you wanted muscle tone as well. Just remember you didn’t do this to have a lot of loose skin hanging around. Resistance training makes sure the right message is passed to your body. This message is as follows,”Let’s keep the muscle and in fact let’s make it stronger.” If this message is not communicated then you will potentially use muscle for energy leading to loose skin.

In Closing

In conclusion you have been exposed to the essentials of how one loses belly fat. Following the actions listed will lead to losing weight and having increased fat-loss. These actions if followed consistently will allow you significant weightloss in a safe manner while losing belly fat.

The advantages and dangers of dieting – Part 1

Firstly lets examine what exactly a diet is…

A diet is a way of eating and drinking that will help you loose weight. It is a system of, more often than not ‘healthy’ eating which is primarily made up of foods containing fewer calories and lower fat. Now, don’t misunderstand me. This doesn’t mean that you have to eat like a rabbit, carrots and lettuce leaves. It just means that as a whole we change our diet to eat healthier than we have been previously.

Advantages of dieting

There are many advantages to dieting, as long as you do it the right way. Dieting isn’t about cutting out all the foods you like to eat, do this and you will crave them all the more. Dieting is about cutting down on the bad and choosing a few healthier options. Take for example a person who has high blood pressure or cholesterol. Through adapting their diet by choosing lower fat foods and food to help lower cholesterol they will reap huge benefits, making this a big diet advantage.

If you need to loose weight, cut down on the bad foods that you really like. Maybe have a few less desserts and a few more pieces of fruit. Don’t completely cut out everything bad, or, as soon as you change your diet again you will pile back on the pounds.

Try to adapt your diet to something you can stick to long term, that way making the initial effort will be far more advantageous!

Disadvantages of dieting

The main disadvantage of dieting is the effect it has upon your body and your health if you don’t do it correctly. If you change your diet dramatically, make sure you are trying to maintain a realistic goal and not just simply put yourself through hell! Ensure that you are still getting into your body the vital vitamins and minerals that it needs. Dieting won’t do you any good if you make yourself ill. If you are engaging in an exercise programme along with your new diet, ensure that you are eating enough protein and carbohydrate. Be sensible above all else!

It is easy to get wrapped up in the new latest diet, by the newest celebrity, but think about this. Much of advertisement is propaganda, anyone will try to sell you anything by telling you it works if they can make money. Some diets such as “The Atkins Diet” advertise extremely fast weight loss, but at what price? Feeling ill? Filling your body with saturated fat? Please, you want to loose weight, not have a heart attack!

Ignore the diet pills and diet crazes. Join a gym, cut down on your overall fat intake and indulge yourself once in a while. You may loose the weight a little bit slower, but you will be far healthier for it. If you are unsure about how to diet, consult a trained dietitian.

Good luck!

Pros and cons of the Atkins diet – Part 1

The Atkins Diet is targeted around a balance of carbohydrates and proteins. The Atkins diet, was developed, based on the premise, that the majority of overweight individuals are so, because they are living on high carbohydrate fast food diets. they eat too much sugar… Basically they are filling their bodies with fast food and are becoming carbohydrate junkies.

The correct balance of proteins and healthy carbs, such as the protein found in chicken, Salmon, mushrooms and avocados and the carbs one finds in dark leafy green vegetables, leads to a decrease in unhealthy sugar cravings. Sugar is essentially dead food and turns to starch in the body, this ’starchy fat’ leads to weight gain. The same that can be said for refined sugar, can be said for refined flour, both foods plump the body up; into unwholesome shapes.

The reason that refined sugars and flours are so deleterious to the human body, is because we have not evolved a digestive system that can handle them. We only started farming late on in our evolution. There is therefore a mismatch between our digestive system and what we now eat. We evolved on the plains as long distance running animals and would eat meat and the occasional berries of trees and just a few wild plants. Refined foods such as flour and sugar are a ‘man-made invention’ that do not exist in nature, we quite simply, have not adapted biologically to handle these food stuffs.

Problems have been associated with the Atkins Diet and claim has been made, that the Atkins Diet is not safe, if not combined with a strict exercise routine. The Atkins Diet has been linked with heart problems. But then again, one could say that a high carbohydrate, junk food ‘diet’ is not particularly safe either.

Another diet, very similar in many ways to the Atkins Diet is The Zone Diet, developed by Dr. Barry Sears. This is considered to be a safer diet than that of Atkins and indeed, Sears, takes a much more scientific approach.

Basically, how both the Atkins Diet and Sears Diets appear to work, is simply because the body cannot digest a lot of protein, without very quickly feeling ‘full-up’. The opposite of course can be said of carbohydrates, indeed, I’m sure everyone reading this has at one time or another, ate a whole packet of cookies in one sitting and still felt hungry afterwords. If you combine a high ratio of protein in your diet, you stomach ‘fills-up’ very quickly and this counters and stops the sugar cravings. This limit on junk foods, leads to weight loss.

Carbohydrates are not unhealthy per se… Indeed, the human body needs a percentage of carbohydrate. But there are good and bad carbs. The healthy carbs are those found in dark leafy vegetables. We have evolved to break down the enzymes within the ‘primitive’ carbohydrates, but the carbs in refined sugars and flours ‘knot’ together and do not easily breakdown in the body, instead an accumulation of starchy fat build up and leads to weight gain.

The main criticism that one can make of the Atkins Diet is that it is not combined with a fitness regime and many scientists do now believe that the Atkins Diet is unsafe, if not combined with a good anaerobic program that gets the heart rate working, such as running or brisk walking. The other minor ‘by-product’ of the Atkins Diet, is that it makes one smell and not a pleasant smell either.
